About This Service

What to Know

Sometimes we need to see what's happening inside to understand what's going on with your pet. Our imaging services give us a detailed look beneath the surface without any discomfort. X-rays help us see bones, joints, and some internal organs, while ultrasound lets us watch organs in real-time and check how things are functioning. Whether your pet has swallowed something they shouldn't have, we're investigating a limp, or we want to check on internal organs, imaging gives us the clear pictures we need. Our equipment is modern and efficient, meaning shorter appointment times and clearer images.

Most imaging is quick and painless - pets usually don't mind at all.

4
Step 4

For some detailed imaging, a mild calming aid might be recommended to help your pet stay still.

5
Step 5

Images are reviewed immediately by our veterinary team.

6
Step 6

Your vet will show you the images and explain what we can see, answering all your questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about pet advanced imaging

Will my pet need to be sedated?
Most imaging can be done without sedation. For very detailed images or if your pet is anxious, a mild calming aid might help them stay still and relaxed. We'll discuss this with you beforehand.
Is the imaging safe for my pet?
Yes, modern imaging equipment is very safe. X-ray exposure is minimal and ultrasound uses no radiation at all - it's the same technology used for pregnancy scans in humans.
How long until I know the results?
In most cases, your vet can review images immediately and discuss findings with you the same day. Complex cases might be sent to a specialist for a second opinion, which can take 24-48 hours.
Does my pet need to prepare for imaging?
For abdominal ultrasound, we may ask you to withhold food for several hours beforehand. We'll give you specific instructions when you book. For X-rays, no special preparation is usually needed.

You Might Also Be Concerned About...

Many pet owners who come to us for imaging also visit when they've noticed something concerning at home. Perhaps their dog has been limping or favouring one leg and they can't figure out why, or their pet's tummy looks swollen or seems tender when touched. Some worried pet parents come in thinking their curious companion may have swallowed something they shouldn't have, while others are concerned because their pet seems to be having trouble breathing or is making unusual sounds. Imaging lets us peek beneath the surface and see exactly what's happening inside, giving you the clear answers you need and helping us create the right care plan for your pet.
